Details

The University of Sydney research team together with Engadine Community Services are giving older adults in the Sutherland Shire area an opportunity to join the successful Choose to Move program in Sydney Australia! This program was developed by the Active Aging Research Team, in Canada and has been implemented around Sydney with great feedback. Choose to Move is a free 10-week program that provides you with motivation and support to become more active and connected in your community. It will help you to include more activity into your daily routine, meet new friends, and make positive changes to your lifestyle. It is great for anyone aged 50 and over who is looking to become more active, regardless of ability and learn about healthy ageing topics. The program involves 8 group meetings where you will learn about various health topics (e.g., bone health, falls prevention and nutrition) and where you will be able to share your experiences with others in a supportive environment. You will also work with your Activity Coach to create a personalised physical activity plan with activities you enjoy. The Choose to Move program is not just a fitness class (you don’t come to class to just exercise) but rather is a program that equips you with the skills and support you need to get more active and live a healthy life as you age. We undertake movement breaks each week developed by physiotherapists and exercise physiologists that concentrates on strength and balance exercises that promote healthy ageing. Are you ready to Choose to Move and invest in your healthy ageing future? The Choose to Move program is open to anyone aged 50 or older who are not currently doing regular physical activity or who are interested in increasing their current physical activity level and learn about healthy ageing topics and can commit to the program in Engadine. Please register interest before 12th June 2026. Program starts Friday 19th of June at Engadine Community Service Centre at 10AM. You will need to register to attend as numbers are limited.
