Sutherland Shire Citizens’ Heritage Festival 2018 Theme: 'My culture, my story'.
You're invited to step back in time and tour some of the Sutherland Shire's most loved historic sites.
The Sutherland Shire Heritage Festival began 35 years ago, three years after the National Trust launched its Heritage Festival in 1980.
The National Trust suggests a theme each year which is reflected in each of the events. There are now 21 Shire organizations involved, covering the Sutherland Shire from Kurnell to Engadine. Members include: Allways Joinery, Ansto, Beekeepers, Botany Bay Family History Society, Botany Bay National Park, Calligraphy Southscribes, Continuum Art Society, Chatelaine Quilters, Engadine Library, Hazelhurst Art Gallery, Kurnell Village Fair, Papermakers, Port Hacking Potters, Royal National Park, Sutherland Library, Sutherland Medieval Regiment, Sutherland Shire Historical Society, Sutherland Shire Spinners and Weavers, the Tramway Museum, 2SSR, and Woronora Memorial Park.
On 22nd April only, the beautifully restored vintage bus (part of Sydney Bus Museum collection at Leichhardt) will run six trips hourly, linking participating Heritage Festival venues in Sutherland area. Head to the Sutherland Shire and make a day of it.
