Como Bridge

Como Heritage Trail

The Como Heritage and Environment Trail (the Trail) is a 4.2 km circuit through the local streets and bushland of Como that highlights local features and traditional stories relating to the area’s local history.

The Trail traverses around the streets of Como and points out many well-known and not so well-known historic stories.

Featured along the Trail are eight interpretative stories that detail the history and development of the Como Pleasure Grounds, the Rail Bridge and Station, the Como Hotel and Scylla Bay Oval.  There are also two indigenous stories from the local Dharawal tribe that have a local connection with the Georges and Woronora Rivers.  The stories have survived thousands of years and come from the Alcheringa (Dreamtime) of the local indigenous people and have been endorsed by the La Perouse and Gandangara Local Land Councils.  Several local flora and fauna species have been highlighted in the Virtual Tour that you may see along your walk in Paruna Reserve.

Sydney Tramway Museum

Sydney Tramway Museum

Take a step back in time at the Sydney Tramway Museum; a great day out for the whole family. It is a unique attraction in the Sutherland Shire, and has been for over 50 years. Our aim is to preserve and operate Sydney’s vintage trams, which were an important part of everyday life for over 80 years until 1961. You can experience a wide selection of them at the museum, plus an interstate collection of trams from Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Ballarat, as well as trams from overseas including San Francisco, Nagasaki, Munich, Milan and Berlin.

Conveniently located right next to Loftus railway station, get your ticket from the conductor and jump on board to travel along 4km’s of track towards Sutherland and the Royal National Park. The first tram operates at 10.15am, then hourly. (Wednesday last trip departs National Park at 2:30pm, Sunday at 4:30pm.).
